Today saw the last delivery of our UK Technical (Developer) Roadshow down in London.
This was our 7th delivery and, once again, this was pretty much a full house of (I'd guess) about 200 people which would mean (again guess) that we've probably been out to around 1800-2000 developers since February on the Roadshow alone.
The topics for the Roadshow were;
Language Enhancements in VS 2008 (Daniel Moth)
ASP.NET AJAX (Mike Ormond)
Advances for Data in VS 2008 (me)
Rich Applications with XAML (Mark Johnston)
Windows Live (Martin Parry)
The follow up URL for the whole day is http://www.roadshowresources.com.
It's been fun :-) It makes me smile that when we first put these topic together we had to come up with names such as "Rich Applications with XAML" because we didn't know if the Silverlight announcement was going to happen or not so we tried to be vague.
Generally speaking, my session was about LINQ to XML, LINQ to SQL, LINQ to DataSet. I made a deliberate choice to leave out the Entity Framework because it seemed to confuse the issue and it's not shipping with VS 2008.
I got good feedback on the session and good questions. The ones which weren't answered by LINQ to SQL were almost always answered by what looks to be coming with the Entity Framework and LINQ to Entities so that's reassuring.
If you came along then "thanks!". It was good to see you and we hope to catch you next year :-)
